To search for a uniform image of African cities would be futile, because societies on this continent are simply too diverse. In the Sahara region, Arabian and colonial influences animate the faces of the cities with their mosques, minarets and European quarters. In the south of Africa, on the other hand, modern silhouettesand imposing skylines predominate.
